About the venue

A mill has stood on this site for at least 1000 years- it is mentioned in William the Conqueror’s great survey, the Doomsday Book of 1086, and probably dates back to the Saxon origins of the town.

The Mill has been a hotel for over 40 years, and is an excellent venue for conferences of all sizes. This Old English style hotel is in the centre of Sudbury, on the banks of the River Stour. It has a bar, a restaurant and sun terrace each with picturesque views over the meadows. The hotel has recently undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment programme and introduced a feature restaurant, The Mill with a historic working water wheel. For those with less formal or more modest requirements it makes a great spot for guests to hold a breakfast meeting or lunch. With 62 luxurious bedrooms, delegates can enjoy the convenience of onsite accommodation, with special room rates including Full English and Continental Breakfast. All our function rooms include elegant décor and state of the art screening and I.T solutions. The impressive Gainsborough Suite is extremely well lit by natural daylight and can accommodate theatre style seating of up to 60 guests or dinner dances for 60. Delegates can either dine in style at The Mill Restaurant or we can serve refreshments in your room, from fresh pastries to hot/cold buffet lunch, together with teas and coffees.
