The spectacular façade of the hotel, originally Merrion Hall, was designed in 1863 by Alfred G. Jones. It was restored to become the magnificent façade of The Davenport Hotel, which opened in 1993. The hotel is right on the edge of Merrion Square in the heart of Dublin and close by The Mont Clare and Alexander Hotels.
