About the venue

The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour is one of Glasgow’s foremost attractions and is of tremendous historical significance to the city.

Clyde-built in 1896 and named the ‘Glenlee’, The Tall Ship took to the waves as a cargo ship, circumnavigating the world four times. Sold to the Spanish Government in 1922, she became a training vessel for their Navy. By 1980, the Glenlee lay in dry dock in a Spanish quay. Recognising the significance of the Glenlee as one of the last Clyde-built ships still afloat in the world, the Clyde Maritime Trust arranged for her return home to Glasgow and began restoration in 1993. Today, a popular visitor attraction and a function venue, we have a proud reputation for delivering exceptional standards of catering and customer service, which will offer you an impressive event whatever the occasion. We will be delighted to welcome you onboard to meet our dedicated staff, who will help you to create a memorable, stress-free historical experience which is tailored to suit your imagination and your budget. With unrivalled views of the famous River Clyde you can be sure your event will be an unforgettable occasion for you and your guests. We hope that you take from The Tall Ship a little of the fascination, pride and pleasure that this historic vessel offers to all who board her. We invite you to be part of our history... A wonderful sense of arrival awaits your guests onboard The Tall Ship. Whether you choose a pre-dinner drinks reception in the Pumphouse Galleries, or the breathtaking main deck of the Ship itself, the anticipation and excitement as you walk over the quayside and onto the Ship, is unmatched at any other venue in Glasgow. The Tween Deck can be set for up to 216 guests, seated at round tables. When dressed and lit for an occasion, it has a warm and inviting atmosphere that never fails to charm our guests. Our experienced events team will also work with you to help you choose table centres, coordinated linen, entertainment and audio-visual equipment to ensure a memorable experience for both you and your guests. The perfect dinner is the right combination of a venue ambience and quality of food and service. Once you have chosen The Tall Ship as your venue, we will take you through our extensive food and beverage menus or will create something bespoke according to your requirements. A menu tasting can be arranged prior to your event where you can sample the dishes and meet our award-winning chef. All crockery, cutlery, tables, chairs and linen, as well as set up and waiting staff, are included in the hire of the ship.
