About the venue

In addition to offering a world-class academic environment for research and learning in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, The University of Edinburgh also boasts outstanding conference and event services via its Hospitality & Events Collection.

From purpose built conference facilities for 300 delegates, to venues steeped in history ideal for AGMs, exclusive dinners and receptions, we have the space, the team, and the technical ability to meet a broad range of event requirements. There are two venue hubs in the city: Pollock Estate A conference village where delegates can breathe and make the most of the outdoors. Located in the vibrant Southside of Edinburgh and nestled on the edge of Holyrood Park - a city space unlike any other with dramatic hills and crags shaping Edinburgh’s iconic skyline. Pollock Estate, which can host conferences for up to 330 delegates, has three dedicated conference and event venues – the purpose-built John McIntyre Conference Centre, the characterful St Leonard’s Hall, and the classic mid-century South Hall. With two onsite hotels, Summer Campus accommodation, and extensive landscaped gardens, the estate offers a residential conference village environment within the city. It is easily accessible on foot or by public transport from the city centre whilst also providing electric car charging points and parking. Old Town Campus A conference hub where delegates can experience the most historic, cultural, and academic locations in the city. The Old Town Campus lies in the heart of the University quarter, playing host to iconic venues, such as the McEwan Hall and Playfair Library. They are complemented by the modern facilities of lecture spaces which become available out of term. Clustered around Bristo Square, George Square, and Old College, the Campus is ideal for conferences, AGMs and corporate kick off meetings for up to 700 delegates, accommodating plenary sessions, breakout rooms as well as exhibition and catering areas. It is easily accessible by foot and a short walk from Waverley Train Station, and all the attractions Edinburgh has to offer. For residential conferences, you will find the University’s hotel accommodation located close by with KM Hotel & Apartments a mere 5-minute walk away, and The Scott and The Scholar hotels a 20-minute walk. The venues detailed form part of our collection – the full portfolio comprises 12 venues across the city with 70+ meeting rooms.
