The exquisite beams, hand carved by the monks, are still as strong today as they were over eight hundred years ago and are some of the finest examples of their kind still in existence. Over the years the priory was used by travellers as a welcome rest inn and even by King James 1 when taken ill on a journey from Newmarket in 1619. His Highness later granted a special licence to the hotel for the sale of wines. The hotel has two function rooms available for hire for meetings, parties or weddings. We offer free wireless internet access (ask at Reception for access details) and there is an OHP screen available. Other technical equipment – projector etc. can be provided if advance notice is given.
