    Located in Oxfordshire, near Witney on the B4022, just outside of the small village of Hailey, this classic Cotswolds hotel is in an ideal location in the heart of the country within a few miles of Oxford, Chipping Norton and major motorways. This is a classic Cotswolds country inn. The Bird in Hand is a classic building of its time. Visually, it is a classic, graceful, stone and slate Cotswold building. Located between Witney and Chipping Norton on the B4022, the hotel is a mile outside the village of Hailey and set on a slight rise among green fields and graceful Cotswold countryside. The Bird in Hand Hotel is an ideal venue for business meetings, seminars, breakfast meetings and conferences with its excellent facilities, peaceful location and attentive service. We have three rooms from which to choose. All offer the same facilities but vary in size. The Ashley Room is the smaller of the three and can seat up to 12 people ‘boardroom style’ and approximately 15 for a more informal meeting. The Lindon Room can seat up to 22 people ‘boardroom style’ and 30 in ‘theatre style’. The larger Summer Room can sit up approximately 40 people.

    Once upon a time there was a drinking club at Burghley House. It was founded by The 5th Earl of Exeter in 1684 and it was called The Honourable Order of Little Bedlam. It had an eclectic bunch of members: The Baptist Earl of Gainsborough was known as Greyhound, The Hon Charles Bertie was The Stag and The Earl of Denbigh was Tyger amongst other nefarious characters. They are not sure who The Bull (rumoured to be The Hon Charles Cecil) and The Swan were and nor are we sure that the club dined at this historic Stamford Public House - but it is highly likely they did. They would have drunk locally brewed ales, feasted on Burghley Estate and other local produce and created total bedlam. Things have a habit of coming round and we are delighted to invite you to dine on our local produce, sup our fine ales and obviously behave very, very well!

    Situated in the heart of the wye-valley, the abbey hotel sits proudly in an area of outstanding natural beauty with astounding views of the infamous Tintern Abbey and woodlands of the wye-valley. The room accommodates approximately 20 delegates boardroom style and approximately 30 delegates theatre style. We have two lounges that provide "break-out" facilities should you require them.
