    Silverstone Golf Club was established in 1992 and is a sister course to Cherwell Edge Golf Club (Banbury, Oxon). It is on the Buckinghamshire/Northamptonshire border situated very close to Stowe,Towcester, Brackley & Buckingham. During the last few years the course has undergone extensive improvements, resulting in superb contouring of the fairways with well built tees and free draining greens. The course itself is a very challenging 18 hole parkland course, that has a par of 72. It is situated in the rolling North Buckinghamshire countryside surrounded by woodland, opposite the world famous Grand Prix Motor Racing Circuit.     Situated within the beautiful surroundings of the Wharfe Valley, one of Ilkley's oldest buildings, the Manor House, has been converted into an attractive museum and art gallery. On the ground floor visitors are given a glimpse into Ilkley's past while the first floor galleries provide the venue for a regularly changing programme of temporary exhibitions. While being a major exhibit in itself, the Manor House also stands on the remains of the Roman fort of Olicana. Only a short section of defensive wall remains exposed at the back of the building, but Roman artefacts from the fort and surrounding area are on permanent display inside the Manor House, together with prehistoric artefacts and information about the development of Ilkley as a Victorian spa town.

This is a classic Cotswolds country inn. The Bird in Hand is a classic building of its time. Visually, it is a classic, graceful, stone and slate Cotswold building. Located between Witney and Chipping Norton on the B4022, the hotel is a mile outside the village of Hailey and set on a slight rise among green fields and graceful Cotswold countryside. The Bird in Hand Hotel is an ideal venue for business meetings, seminars, breakfast meetings and conferences with its excellent facilities, peaceful location and attentive service. We have three rooms from which to choose. All offer the same facilities but vary in size. The Ashley Room is the smaller of the three and can seat up to 12 people ‘boardroom style’ and approximately 15 for a more informal meeting. The Lindon Room can seat up to 22 people ‘boardroom style’ and 30 in ‘theatre style’. The larger Summer Room can sit up approximately 40 people.

    Once upon a time there was a drinking club at Burghley House. It was founded by The 5th Earl of Exeter in 1684 and it was called The Honourable Order of Little Bedlam. It had an eclectic bunch of members: The Baptist Earl of Gainsborough was known as Greyhound, The Hon Charles Bertie was The Stag and The Earl of Denbigh was Tyger amongst other nefarious characters. They are not sure who The Bull (rumoured to be The Hon Charles Cecil) and The Swan were and nor are we sure that the club dined at this historic Stamford Public House - but it is highly likely they did. They would have drunk locally brewed ales, feasted on Burghley Estate and other local produce and created total bedlam. Things have a habit of coming round and we are delighted to invite you to dine on our local produce, sup our fine ales and obviously behave very, very well!
