In 1517 Geoffrey & Elizabeth Baynton established The George & Dragon here and so became the first owners of what was to become a busy coaching Inn. Many of the rooms still exhibit their original features. Among these is the haunted Teardrop Room, with its strange and interesting story and symbols on the wall. Under the ownership of Peel Hotels, the hotel has undergone continuous upgrading and modernisation of the building and its facilities to provide its guests with the very best in charming, characterfull surroundings. Over the years the hotel has been extended and modernised to provide every modern facility in 39 bedrooms ranging from Single rooms with bathroom to a large Family room.
