HISTORY The history of Nidd Hall has been traced back to the days of Edward II in the 14th century. However, the earliest remains still standing are the cellars which were part of the manor house built during the reign of Elizabeth I. The manor house was demolished in 1824 and a new house built in 1830 by Benjamin Rawson, a wealthy wool merchant from Bradford. A magnificent family home, the Hall passed from the hands of Benjamin Rawson to his daughter Elizabeth and then on to her great nephew,Henry Edmund 14th Viscount Mountgarret in 1890. The property stayed with the Mountgarret family until 1969. Since 1855, the Hall has almost doubled in size: the pleasure gardens were extended to 13 acres, the kitchen gardens to around eight acres, and many new buildings were added around the estate. Set in 45 acres of landscaped gardens, Nidd Hall's imposing baronial exterior conceals the warmest of welcomes. Nidd Hall offers an intimate setting, with many original features such as panelling, mouldings and fireplaces. Perfect for enjoying a romantic getaway. If an Event is in mind Nidd Hall offers a range of event areas that are highly flexible, along with breakout areas that can cater for small to medium groups.
