The unique architecture and atmosphere of the University of Glasgow never fails to impress and, in combining that with the flexibility and variety of our venues, we guarantee organisers and delegates will be anything other than delighted with their experience at the University of Glasgow. GLASGOW Glasgow is one of Europe’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities renowned for its culture and exciting social scene. The city has undergone an economic and cultural renaissance and was recently voted one of the top ten cities in the world, the only city in the UK to be ranked. Home to the architectural treasures of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, his fame draws visitors from far and wide and his distinctive style can still be appreciated in many of the city’s buildings and museums. Hailed as the dear green place, Glasgow has plenty of attractive parks, but its aesthetic standing truly rests with its buildings and the University’s main Gilmorehill campus is an iconic and integral part of the city’s skyline, centering on Sir George Gilbert Scott’s neo-gothic building. The University, voted as having the best campus in Scotland, is home to over 100 listed buildings and sits at the heart of Glasgow's cosmopolitan West End which combines the benefits and security of a campus-style environment whilst having close proximity to both vibrant city life and Scotland’s glorious countryside.

The Reid Macewen caters for meetings, seminars, exhibitions, board meetings, private dinners, celebrations and receptions. The centre is part of the charity Erskine which cares for ex-Service men and was named Reid Macewen in honour of the Hospital’s two greatest patrons. Sir John Reid donated the Erskine Estate and Mansion House, which was converted to the original hospital. Sir William Macewen was the eminent surgeon who led the initiative to create the hospital. Both men worked tirelessly for the benefit of Erskine, an independent Scottish charity, and the brave patients it cared for. Surrounded by parkland, the Reid Macewen was impeccably restored in 2000 in close collaboration with, and the support of Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Entering through an archway under an imposing clock tower into a cobbled courtyard is like stepping back in time. The interior, however, is a careful blend of the original period features combined with state-of-the-art facilities, computer technology and audio visual equipment offering meeting and conference rooms for up to 100 delegates.
