Secretly secluded, surrounded by wild Welsh beauty and overlooking the magnificent Mawddach estuary, this unique country hotel emanates a warm and friendly atmosphere, and is deeply embedded in local history and culture. Ideal for large formal events or for cosy meals to the sound of a local harper, Fronoleu is a perfect base from which to explore the mountain landscapes and the rich history of the Welsh people. Fronoleu means 'Light From Within'. It is a name associated with the early quakers who lived here; it probably arose from the quaker doctrine of the 'inner light'. It still remains a working farm, but in its role as country house hotel and restaurant it has established a great reputation for fine food and comfortable accommodation. Fronoleu is situated in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales, near Dolgellau and close to the mountain Cader Idris, a wonderful area for mountain walks. Day rooms include a cosy bar and lounge, both with log fires. We have a large function room which can accommodate 130 people seated or up to 200 for a buffet, separate from the hotel lounge and the restaurant, with its own bar. The function room is available for bookings for Weddings, receptions, parties, conferences, business lunches and other functions.

The Tyr Graig Castle is a remarkable and unique country hotel situated between the mountains and the sea. Only 1/2 a mile out of Barmouth town centre and on the borders of the Snowdonia National Park. The hotel was originally built in 1891 for WW Greener the famous Birmingham gunmaker and it is alleged that Mr Greener made the gun that was used by Doc Holliday in the famous "GUNFIGHT AT THE OK CORRAL". The hotel still retains many of it's original features and style of the Victorian era with stained glass windows, wood panelling, decorative floors and very elaborate ceilings, whilst still offering modern day comforts. The dining room retains all of its Victorian charm and overlooks Cardigan bay. The relaxed atmosphere is enhanced by excellent cuisine and an outstanding choice of wines. Enjoy the peacefulness of the lounge with its selections of books and board games to help while away an hour or two, or on those cool winter evenings stay in and enjoy a drink in the front of the crackling log fire. While away the hours watching the ever changing skyline from the conservatory bar or on warmer days outside under the parasols enjoying the crystal clear air. Our award winning restaurant is very popular due to our reputation for excellent food and service. The menu is changed on a seasonal basis to make use of the very best of local fresh produce, and offers exceptionally high quality and excellent value.
