About the venue

This historic Gettysburg hotel offers superior service in a charming and ideal setting; rich with history and hospitable ambiance.

The Historic Best Western Gettysburg Hotel has a tradition of hospitality that dates to 1797, when James Scott first opened his tavern. In the summer of 1863, the hotel played witness to one of the seminal events in American history during a pivotal three-day Civil War battle. President Lincoln honed the immortal words of his Gettysburg Address at the Wills House, just steps away from the hotel. Nearly a century later, the hotel served as President Dwight Eisenhower's national operations center while he recuperated from a heart attack at his nearby farm. A victim of post-war changes in America's traveling habits, the Gettysburg Hotel closed its doors in 1964. After a careful and detailed restoration, the Historic Best Western Gettysburg Hotel once again welcomes guests to share its rich legacy. Each well-appointed room at the Gettysburg Hotel is designed with today's traveler in mind coming equipped with high-speed Internet and all the right amenities to make for a comfortable stay. This full-service hotel offers in-room dining, turn down service. The hotel also offers a beautiful ballroom for special events or occasions taking place in the Gettysburg area. The hotel's proximity to Washington DC, Baltimore and Hershey make it an ideal spot for traveling to a variety of historic and places of interest including the area's unique antique shops and the popular Boyd's Bear Country.
