La Mirande is twenty years old.

Older than the age of reason. Old enough to verify the success of a project that defied the tide of fashion, in an age when only too often the elegance and charm of earlier times are lost. Twenty years ago there were many who thought that the idea of creating an environment of authenticity, tradition and heritage, when great hotels were being stripped of their decor and modernised into bland uniformity, was sheer madness. Today, all those who, for a variety of purposes have chosen to stay at La Mirande, demonstrate by their numbers, their loyalty, and the way they express their pleasure, that the idea was in tune with the future. La Mirande is a living historical monument in a romantic setting; a quiet cobbled square next to the Popes' Palace. Carefully restored to their original splendor, all guestrooms have authentic period interiors with boiseries and chintz wall coverings and invisible, state of the art technology for modern comfort. Lavishly decorated reception rooms are laid out around a delightful wicker-spiffed courtyard conservatory. The oldest and largest of them, a magnificent renaissance stateroom with a double coffered ceiling, serves as the main restaurant with a terrace and a blissful garden for open-air dining in the summer. Downstairs is the authentic 19th Century Kitchen, which offers table d'hote dining and also the venue for popular year long cooking classes.
