The Engine Shed Northampton

About the venue

The Engine Shed is a distinctive Grade II listed former railway building at the University of Northampton's Waterside Campus, close to Northampton town centre.

Carefully restored to combine Victorian industrial character with modern event facilities, the venue features original brickwork, exposed structural beams and historic railway tracks. The venue offers a versatile setting for conferences, corporate meetings, presentations, exhibitions, networking events and private functions. Flexible furniture arrangements can be tailored to the nature of each event, with options for theatre-style presentations, informal gatherings and seated functions, subject to capacity and layout requirements. Facilities available to support events include Wi-Fi, audiovisual equipment, projection, staging and lighting, alongside furniture, catering options and a fully licensed bar. The experienced venue team can help organisers plan an event to suit their requirements, from straightforward room hire to a more fully supported occasion. Located on a modern university campus, The Engine Shed combines heritage appeal with accessibility to Northampton's transport links. The surrounding campus environment and outdoor space can offer further flexibility for suitable events. The building is also home to Northampton Students' Union, giving the venue a lively and welcoming atmosphere
