About the venue

The Mermaid (formerly theatre) is located on the north bank of the Thames at Blackfriars and is located a minutes walk away from the tube and mainline station.

At the heart of The Mermaid is the main Auditorium which has tiered seating, great sightlines, plenty of leg room and can hold up to 600 persons. There is an impressive stage which is flexible enough to hold any kind of set whether it is formal or informal and is suitable for back projection. There is direct access to the stage from street level via a ramp The Mermaid has is an in house technical team on site and a full range of audio visual equipment that is available to hire. The venue is also fitted with Wi-Fi which means the client can be offered up to 100Mb of Internet bandwidth. The Auditorium is suitable for AGM's, conferences, product launches, fashion shows, presentations, comedy nights as well as music and dance events. On the first floor there is an exhibition space which can hold up to 40 stands, 3m x 2m in shell scheme format, this space can also be broken down into 4 smaller meeting rooms which can hold 14 - 330 delegates with the use of moveable walls. Dinners for up to 350 can also be served in this area. This room can be used in conjunction with the Auditorium or as a standalone space; there is an additional meeting room which holds up to 150. All of these rooms have natural daylight and air conditioning and some of them have blackout capabilities. The River Rooms have their own access and offer a fabulous views across the Thames of the Tate Modern, Shakespeares Globe, Millennium bridge and The Shard. The Lower River room can hold up to 300 for a drinks reception and 180 for a seated dinner and the Upper River room can hold up to 500 for a drinks reception and 320 for dinner. These rooms are ideal for Christmas parties, dinners and drinks receptions. The Mermaid is a flexible venue, and can accommodate most types of meeting, conferences, and a variety of different type of events. The rooms and spaces hold numbers ranging from 20 up to 600, all the rooms with the exception of the auditorium have natural daylight. The Mermaid is easily accessible by several different modes of transport, and is positioned right on the banks of the Thames . It most unique feature are the tiered seating auditorium and the river views . With nearby attractions that include St Pauls Cathedral, Tate Modern and Shakespeare Globe theatre. There is an in house team of audio visual specialists who are on hand to help and caterers who will ensure that all your requirements are met.
