The Hardwicke Arms Hotel is set in the rural village of Arrington, just a few miles north of Royston. Once a coaching inn, and later part of the Wimpole estate, the building dates back to the thirteenth century, although there is little remaining evidence of that time. An on-going refurbishment programme has succeeded in bringing the hotel into the 21st century, whilst maintaining the character and beautiful old features. Being a privately run hotel on the borders of Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, the Hardwicke Arms is an ideal location as a central meeting place. We are pleased to offer our services as such a venue, and can provide facilities for anything from a small meeting and appraisals to a large conference or training programme. We have two rooms available for hire. Our restaurant, which comfortably seats eighteen people, makes an ideal location for an informal or smaller meeting or the function room which is suitable for up to fifty delegates Refreshments from tea and coffee to four course meals can be easily provided, and our buffet lunches are extremely popular. Menus are available on request. Special dietary requirements can also be catered for. For those needing accommodation, we also have en suite hotel rooms with tea and coffee making facilities, and direct dial telephone systems. You might like to consider us for week-long courses or away days.

    Old Bull Inn

    Old Bull Inn

The Old Bull Inn 56 High Street Royston Hertfordshire, SG8 9AW
    • Hotel

The Old Bull was first referred to as the Black Bull in 1520, several years before the English reformation, in an inquisition Post Mortem on the death of Richard Gery, who was the owner. It has provided overnight accommodation throughout its history. In the Eighteenth century The Royston Club meeting rooms were taken down from the Red Lion and re-erected as Assembly rooms at The Old Bull, which then became Royston's main venue for ceremonial celebrations, including the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Kingston records show that the Magistrates petty sessions were held at the Old Bull. When the new court houses were built in 1849, they were ordered to transfer but resisted on the grounds that the new county court would be less comfortable and not at all more convenient than the room at the Bull. We have the 'Oak Room' & 'Ballroom' which are interlinked to provide a facility to accommodate a maximum of 220 persons. For a more formal affair we can seat 110 in the Ballroom, using the Oak Room as the reception area with it's own integral bar.
