    On a spur of land rising above the River Deben you’ll find Sutton Hoo; the burial ground of Anglo-Saxon kings and warriors. This atmospheric place is one of Britain's most important and internationally renowned archaeological sites. One of several large mounds was excavated in 1939, revealing a fabulous Anglo-Saxon ceremonial burial chamber within the remains of a 90 ft ship, that had lain undisturbed for over 1300 years. Only 500 yards from the famous mounds you’ll find the exhibition hall, which houses a full-size reconstruction of the chamber and tells the story of the site, described as 'Page One of English History'. Corporate hospitality This is a most unusual venue, which provides a range of facilities from the modern Glass Restaurant in the award-winning Scandinavian style visitor centre, to the Edwardian gravitas of the Panelled Room in Tranmer House.     Ravenshill was built in 1874 as the home of the Factor of the Estate of Lockerbie. There is a large garden with lawns, mature trees and a private car park. We are easy to find from the A74 motorway, we are situated in a quiet residential area on the edge of the village 5 minutes walk west of the town centre. We have eight individual bedrooms all of which have double or twin beds, most with views of our garden and the surrounding countryside, two also have double bed settees for children so we can accommodate families together. One large double room has a four-poster bed. All bedrooms have colour television, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers, direct dial telephone and private facilities.
