    Kits Coty House, beside Bluebell Hill on the Chatham-Maidstone road, is believed to be older than Stonehenge, which was erected between 1800 and 2000 B.C. It is thought that Kits Coty House was a place of worship and later part of a burial mound. A local tradition claims that a shepherd named Kit used to take shelter under the stones in bad weather, hence the origin of the unusual name. However, it is more likely that the name is a corruption of Catigern's House. The Spectre Room caters for 20 – 45 all year round and throughout June to Mid September the use of our marquee adjoining the Spectre Room enables us to cater for larger groups of up to a maximum of 80.

    Welcome to the Haldon Belvedere! Devon's most sought after venue is perched high on Haldon Hill and stands in 5 acres of woodland in the heart of the lovely Devon countryside some 6 miles from the cathedral city of Exeter. From its vantage-point, panoramic views extending to Dartmoor, Exmoor, the South Hams, the Exe valley and estuary can be seen. On a really clear day, the Isles of Purbeck and Portland Bill in Dorset are visible. Haldon Belvedere, also known as Lawrence Castle is a Grade II* listed triangular tower originally built in 1788 by Sir Robert Palk as the centre piece to his vast estates and dedicated to the memory of Major-General Stringer Lawrence the founder of the Indian army. You can find us by turning off the A38 at the Exeter Racecourse exit and following the Tourist signs for Haldon Belvedere. Some 2 miles from the A38 you will come to a junction named Haldon Gate. The drive leading to the castle is on the right a few metres beyond this junction. The entrance to the carpark is on the right just before the gates leading to the drive. Visitors should use the designated carpark but coaches will require to use the parking splay at Haldon Gate junction. CONFERENCES AND FUNCTIONS Haldon Belvedere is available for private functions, corporate entertaining or for that very special launch or event. Because of Health and Safety issues, the preparation of hot food within the building itself is not possible but a buffet style reception is possible for a maximum of 45 people. We have designated caterers who have a range of menus to suit all tastes. To maintain quality and hygiene requirements, hirers are not permitted to provide their own catering or bring in caterers other than our designated caterers.

Landguard Manor was built circa mid eighteenth century and was extended and remodelled in 1878 for Colonel Francis Henry Atherley. Weddings Landguard Manor has been approved by the Isle of Wight Register Office to perform civil wedding ceremonies in the house and the charge for this is £100. We offer a complete wedding and reception service which can be made highly individual to suit your taste. There is a superb staircase for an impressive bridal entrance, so if you choose a traditional style wedding, we have everything here for you. The ground floor has three reception rooms, in which the largest number we can cater for is 90. Alternatively, larger parties can be organised in a marquee on the lawn. We have two reception rooms licensed to hold a Civil Marriage Ceremony. In addition to your wedding reception, we will be happy to arrange an informal buffet for an evening party. The Howard Room has a fully stocked bar and dancing can be held in the Holderness/Atherley Rooms or alternatively in our Grand Hall. We can provide live entertainment and/or disco on your behalf.
