    The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour is one of Glasgow’s foremost attractions and is of tremendous historical significance to the city. Clyde-built in 1896 and named the ‘Glenlee’, The Tall Ship took to the waves as a cargo ship, circumnavigating the world four times. Sold to the Spanish Government in 1922, she became a training vessel for their Navy. By 1980, the Glenlee lay in dry dock in a Spanish quay. Recognising the significance of the Glenlee as one of the last Clyde-built ships still afloat in the world, the Clyde Maritime Trust arranged for her return home to Glasgow and began restoration in 1993.
