The Royal College of Art is one of the world’s best known postgraduate art and design universities, and our students’ work is shown throughout the year in the extensive College galleries. These galleries are also available to hire for external exhibitions and events, and represent a vital contribution to the College’s Student Fund, which exists to support future generations of artists and designers. Designed in the early 1960s by modernist master HT Cadbury-Brown (1913-2009), the Grade-II listed building has been praised as, ‘an extraordinary building contextually that respects the Victorian buildings around it’. The Royal College of Art is situated in Kensington, west London, next to the imposing Royal Albert Hall and opposite Kensington Gardens. This prime location makes the College easily accessible by both bus and underground. The galleries consist of eight exhibition spaces: the Entrance Gallery, the Upper Gulbenkian Gallery, the Lower Gulbenkian Gallery, the Henry Moore Gallery, the Link Gallery and the three Courtyard Galleries. The College also has a fully equipped lecture theatre. In addition, the exclusive Senior Common Room, which houses part of the College’s famous collection of art, provides an ideal venue for private receptions and dinners. Our "Party Rooms" are large, contemporary spaces designed by Gage Interiors in 2005. They are ideally suited to events of up to 500 people (for an exclusive hire). There is also a wonderful private garden which links to the Party Rooms which can hold up to 50 guests. General Manager Shelly Curtis managed all events at The Groucho Club in Soho prior to joining us last year. You will find a friendly but efficient team. Our a la carte and event food consists of eclectic European dishes influenced by Italian and modern British classics. You will also discover our prices to be highly reasonable. We have an excellent team of chefs who are passionately devoted to creating real dishes that taste quite simply delicious. Our food is presented refectory style, with shared starters of fresh charcuterie, cheeses, pickled vegetables and breads served on rustic wooden boards.
