    Originally designed in 1936 by Robert Arthur Bullivant as an Odeon Cinema, the venue represented one of the largest, most extravagant buildings within the region comprising of simply one screen seating over 3000 guests. It was then subdivided into 4 screens in the 60s and remained closed throughout much of the 90s. The building has now been restored to its former glory, and as Athena retains its original art deco splendour, along with its reputation for being the leading venue within the region. Stamford Court The most recent addition to our portfolio of venues is proving a great success with organisers and delegates alike. Stamford Court conference centre offers modern meeting rooms in a traditional setting. With floor to ceiling windows it allows for the surrounding Edwardian gardens to be appreciated from within. Traditional features have been lovingly restored, enhancing lavish bay windows, intricate cornicing and original fireplaces, while maintaining a modern twist with up to the minute audio visual and other technical provisions. Choose to book the venue in its entirety including the main hall Gilbert Murray and seven seminar rooms or book rooms independently for smaller board meetings or interview panels. Each seminar room has built in audio-visual and their own unique style. Design features within the Hospitality Lounge were inspired by William Morris’ Brer Rabbit, offering an attractive environment in which to enjoy the on-tap refreshments; English or herbal teas, Americano, latte or cappuccino as well as delicious hot chocolate. Delegates can also enjoy a delicious fork or finger buffet, which on sunny days can be taken out onto the surrounding lawns.     Ideally located to the south of Leicester we can offer a number of our school spaces for hire by private individuals or corporate clients to use for functions. From weddings and parties to concerts, drama productions or conferences, we have a wide variety of rooms of different sizes and versatility to choose from. Many of the spaces are double height with plenty of natural light, and they essentially offer a blank canvas that can be transformed into any manner of venue. We can also offer outdoor space for the erection of marquees. Hiring of the school premises can also be combined with use of the sports facilities/grounds which makes Leicester Grammar School an ideal venue for team building days. For specific details on our sports facilities. We can provide in-house catering or we are happy to accept external caterers and we hold a premises licence. We have broadband internet access hardwired throughout the school, a recording studio and we have three-phase electricity. We can also offer on-site security for the duration of your function and we are fully accessible in terms of disability with designated car parking, disabled toilets, wide double doors and level access. Based on a 75 acre site in rural Leicestershire there is easy access to Leicester and Market Harborough – both of which offer a high-speed rail link to St.Pancras and the Eurostar terminal in just over an hour. We are close to the M1 and the M69 and there is on-site parking for up to 200 cars. Birmingham airport is less than an hour away. We can also offer a helicopter landing pad within the school grounds - please contact us for co-ordinates and more information. Whilst having no on-site accommodation, we do a have a number of hotels close by which range in price and style.
