Located just four miles from Liverpool city centre and five minutes from the M62 motorway, Childwall Abbey Hotel is within easy reach of the many attractions of the European Capital of Culture 2008. After a day or night in the famous city, a short taxi ride will take you to the hotel, located in the quiet suburbs where you can be assured of a good night's sleep. The exact origins of the Childwall Abbey Hotel remain a mystery but the commonly held belief is that the original Abbey building dates as far back as the Doomsday Book. The building has been sympathetically restored and now offers seven comfortable bedrooms. The heart and soul of the hotel remains the pub itself, serving traditional food all day which can be enjoyed in the beautifully restored abbey building or outside in the patio area or beer garden. A stay at the Childwall Abbey Hotel offers a unique experience - from the rumoured haunting of a 15th century ghost, to the tap room which hosted The Beatles in their former incarnation as The Quarrymen, the Childwall Abbey is steeped in Liverpool's rich and diverse cultural history. Rooms includes our fantastic free breakfast.

Speke Hall is a rare Tudor timber-framed manor house in a most unusual setting on the banks of the River Mersey. Restored and brought back to life in the 19th century, it is a unique and beautiful mixture of Tudor simplicity and Victorian Arts and Crafts' aesthetics. Built by the devout Catholic Norris family - keen to impress visitors with the grandeur of their home and in particular the magnificent Great Hall - this beautiful building has witnessed more than 400 years of turbulent history. From the Tudor period when a secret priest hole was an essential feature, to years of neglect and decay in the 18th and 19th centuries (including a spell when it was used as a cow shed) and then being dragged into the Victorian era of improvement and technology, the Hall has seen it all.
