A discreet, Georgian townhouse located just off the Kings Road, Sydney House Chelsea is part of the AA Hotel Group of the Year 2017-18 and offers understated, contemporary style in a vibrant neighbourhood. Its intimate atmosphere, typical of a bijou Chelsea pied-à-terre, is finished with a fresh, bright and modern aesthetic, and the hotel is favoured by many as an invaluable London bolt hole. Built in 1829 as two townhouses, the Grade II listed buildings were converted from private residences into a hotel in the 1980’s. As the tallest building on the street, taking prominence over its neighbours, it was named Sydney House. Andrew and Christina Brownsword bought Sydney House Chelsea in 2001. It became the second hotel in their collection, seven years after the purchase of The Bath Priory Sydney House Chelsea is ideally located near Knightsbridge, offering the perfect retreat with a comfortable boardroom and we can provide catering for up to 16 delegates. Our welcoming staff aim to make you feel welcome, relaxed and of course productive. All rooms have complimentary BT Wi-Fi and business meetings can be tailored to individual needs, including specialist equipment.

    • Art gallery

The Royal College of Art is one of the world’s best known postgraduate art and design universities, and our students’ work is shown throughout the year in the extensive College galleries. These galleries are also available to hire for external exhibitions and events, and represent a vital contribution to the College’s Student Fund, which exists to support future generations of artists and designers. Designed in the early 1960s by modernist master HT Cadbury-Brown (1913-2009), the Grade-II listed building has been praised as, ‘an extraordinary building contextually that respects the Victorian buildings around it’. The Royal College of Art is situated in Kensington, west London, next to the imposing Royal Albert Hall and opposite Kensington Gardens. This prime location makes the College easily accessible by both bus and underground. The galleries consist of eight exhibition spaces: the Entrance Gallery, the Upper Gulbenkian Gallery, the Lower Gulbenkian Gallery, the Henry Moore Gallery, the Link Gallery and the three Courtyard Galleries. The College also has a fully equipped lecture theatre. In addition, the exclusive Senior Common Room, which houses part of the College’s famous collection of art, provides an ideal venue for private receptions and dinners. The galleries comprise a total of 1,532 square metres of white space, and form one of the finest venues for hire in London. These spaces are available together or individually, and are a ‘blank canvas’ that can easily be reconfigured to suit any event.
