Old Wardour Castle sits dramatically as the centrepiece to a beautiful and romantic landscape beside a secluded lake deep in the Wiltshire countryside. Inspired by a French chateau, it was built in the late 14th century by the fifth Lord John Lovel. The castle was used as a luxurious home, which reflected Lord Lovel’s status as a nobleman and his immense wealth, gained from his marriage to well connected heiress Maud Holand. During the English Civil War in the 1640s however, the castle was damaged beyond repair. In the 1700s, the Arundell family integrated the ruins into the landscaped grounds of their new home. Ruins were popular in picturesque landscapes as a reminder of a world of knightly chivalry and Old Wardour was no exception. Today, the ruined walls, gothic stairways and lakeside setting offer a storybook location for events. The distinctive hexagonal walls are instantly recognisable as the backdrop for scenes from the film ‘Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves’, starring Kevin Costner. Most recently, the Castle has been licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.

Housed in Claverton Manor on the outskirts of the Georgian city of Bath, the American Museum in Britain opened to the public in July 1961 with the intention of fostering historic ties between the United States and the United Kingdom. The American Museum is celebrated for its magnificent decorative arts collection – over 200 historic American quilts, exceptional pieces of Shaker furniture, exuberant folk art paintings and sculptures, Native American objects, and Renaissance maps of the New World. We now have several areas available for conferences, wedding receptions, workshops, and private events in our newly refurbished Stables and Coach House within the Museum grounds or in the Orangery Café. Coach House & Stable block. These renovated rooms can be used for conferences, weddings, presentations and meetings. They can be hired as three individual spaces or as one area for the ability to use ‘breakout’ rooms or catering. These rooms are accessible for wheelchair users and an accessible toilet is situated within the Coach House. Cars can drop off/pick up from these facilities should wheelchair users prefer due to the gradient of the path leading to this area. Marquees for private events or wedding receptions can be accommodated on the South Lawn. Catering is separate and coordinated between the client and an approved outside caterer chosen from a list provided by the Museum. Audio Visual equipment is installed (projectors & screens in Stables and Seminar room, sound equipment (PA) in Stables. Wi-fi is available. Induction loops are fitted in all public rooms.

Our Conference facilities at the Coppleridge comprise the use of a variety of our suites depending on the size and needs of your particular company. We offer everything from small corporate meals to wine & dine potential customers through to larger conference requirements. For larger meetings, or as a promotional venue our 18th Century converted barn, holds up to 70 people, seated in rows or about 40 board room style. HISTORY The Roman remains, including the Orpheus Mosaic, have been found on the site which is thought to have been on an early supply route. The original Littlecote House was built during the 13th and 14th centuries as part of a medieval settlement and was inhabited by the de Calstone family from around 1290. When William Darrell married Elizabeth de Calstone, he inherited the house and his family went on to build the original brick mansion in the early 16th century. Littlecote has seen an impressive line-up of royalty pass through its doors. This is where Henry VIII courted Jane Seymour. Where Elizabeth I visited John Popham, her Attorney-General, in 1601. Alexander Popham converted the former Medieval Hall into The Cromwellian Chapel. And the Popham?s royal guest list grew increasingly impressive: Charles II and William of Orange all visited the house. In 1804, Littlecote passed into the hands of the Leyborne-Pophams.
