Mottisfont Abbey’s history shows, quite simply, that it is a perfect place for meetings and fine dining. It has been said that Saxon freemen may have held their village moots, or meetings on this site before the Priory was built in 1201 by William Briwere, trusted advisor to Richard the Lionheart. The monks started offering hospitality about 800 years ago to visiting pilgrims. Then, in the last century, it became something of a retreat for the London social circle, which included George Bernard Shaw. Today you can continue this fine tradition of socialising in a fabulous setting, redolent with history and surrounded by beautiful gardens and parkland Corporate hospitality Mottisfont Abbey has a wide choice of distinctive rooms offering great flexibility. It is particularly ideal for entertaining guests for dinner in the Dining Room or for holding a drinks reception in the Long Gallery. Alternatively the Stag Hunting Room is the perfect base for a breakfast or lunch before going fishing on the River Test in the Abbey grounds.

Andrew and Philippa have owned The Half Moon Inn since 23rd August 1991 when it was reopened following a period of neglect and closure. Over the past 20 years much time and effort has been put into maintaining the fabric of the pub and turning it into a focal point of this lovely village. A skittle alley was added, the function room extended, the kitchens have been refurbished and re-equipped and in 2004-6 new letting rooms were built bringing the total to 10. Real ale is a passion and as a result we have received several CAMRA awards as well as featuring in The Good Beer Guide. The Inn has served over 1000 different beers so far and continue to source an interesting and varied range of beers for every palate.

    Sodbury House Hotel

    Sodbury House Hotel

Old Sodbury South Gloucestershire, BS37 6LU
    • Hotel

Situated in its own spacious grounds of lawns and fruit trees, this former farmstead dates from the 1700's, its rustic charm complemented by modern restoration. The word 'hotel' in any language evokes a haven of warmth and comfort and this small country hotel epitomises just that. Businessmen soon recognise high standards of service, reliability and efficiency: the early call that is not forgotten, fresh orange juice at breakfast; and the importance of intelligently relaying a message ungarbled to a guest from his office is not lost on us. While it is natural that we should be popular with some of our biggest firms and government departments - being near to the bustling commerce of Yate and Bristol, we are also near to Bath and the glorious Cotswolds for those seeking leisure, sightseeing and shopping. Frankly, we'd have a little trouble staging the AGM of, say, Microsoft but our facility, tucked away on the first floor of the coach house, is ideal for boardroom or sales meetings. From a half day interview session to a full all-day conference, the standard of attention we give to your requirements does not vary. For six persons or thirty six, with just coffee and biscuits or a full buffet lunch, we are able to cater for your needs to a nicety. Our large conservatory is also available for the smaller, informal business occasion. It overlooks the orchard and lawns and is a highly regarded venue, enabling food to be served on the terrace if weather permits.
